Compliance does not make AI deployment safe

Legal classification creates obligations. It does not replace analysis of real work, discussion of use or monitoring after deployment.

Law sets a floor

Compliance helps identify necessary responsibilities, documentation and controls. It provides a common language for handling data, informing people and governing certain high-risk systems.

Yet a compliant project can still be poorly fitted to the task, damage work quality or quietly move responsibility onto the user.

Prevention examines the situation

Safety requires testing rules against work as actually performed: room for manoeuvre, exceptions, deadlines, control capacity, skills and effects on collectives.

Law addresses what is permitted and required. Prevention adds another question: under these precise conditions, does this deployment protect people over time?

Why it matters

Confusing compliance with safety creates a blind spot precisely where organisational effects emerge.
